Environment Inspiration and Plan
I began developing ideas for the ideal environment for my game. I personally felt that to fit in with the idea of horror, my game should feature in an area that fits in with the idea of horror. The location would be based on an empty city that will contain fog as taken inspiration from the Silent Hills series but with my own twist being that there will be a red hue to represent death. There are ideas that there would be locations such that are designed specifically as part of the game-play such as hospitals and schools to possibly fit in with the theme of horror.
However, I have made changes to the idea of the game environment I want. I have decided to take inspiration from the Outlast videogame and Silent Hill 4 the Room, games that appeals to the horror genre with an indoor environment. From this I have decided to go with an indoor environment for my videogame to take advantage of the idea of being around tight spaces and gives players an idea of insecurity. The environment will be the protagonist's house with adjustments to give it a creepy feel to the player and not feature any bright colours. The idea is to use the home of the protagonist to help with the game's base plot, this is because the story focuses on a family man and the enemy being his deceased daughter and their home being the environment creates a sense of irony in the game with that being the safe space is not a safe one for the protagonist.
