Video Game Inspirations
My inspiration for enemies/antagonists originates from the idea of being surreal and disturbing from DOOM, there are demons and a general variety of enemies in the game and from there I took inspiration of creating something out of the ordinary.
Some of the enemies will be designed to be illusions that are made to mess with the audience instead of actually engaging with them, creating for a less typical experience that every gamer has where they are usually expected to fight all of the enemies. If going with the only antagonist route, I will want the antagonist to not be interacted with in terms of combat but to intimidate the player.
Silent Hill is the main inspiration of my idea due to the game having a very dark tone with a story focuses perspective as well as gameplay that psychologically engages with the audience. The environment ideas from both the games and movies gives me an idea of how I want to do my environment of my own way. The antagonist is inspired by a young girl from the first movie and protagonist are inspired by the variety of different games they have.
I also took inspiration from the Outlast series from their methods of using fear within their videogame and the idea of using a source of light to help guide you through the map (using night vision in a camera), this is also used in The Last of Us videogame which instead uses a flashlight to help guide the player in the dark. My idea is similar to that of using a flashlight to guide through the fog instead of the pure dark that Outlast uses in a different form.
